Creative writing workshops for 2008 in south-west China/eastern Tibet
Creative writing (and photography) workshops will be offered in June, July and August 2008 in and around the south-west China old town of Lijiang and the Tibetan town of Zhongdian (now renamed Shangri-la), on the borderlands of Tibet.
The week-long workshops offer a mix of craft development, work sharing and exploration of the surrounding area.
Lijiang is regarded as one of the most beautiful towns in Asia, with its canals, bridges, old wooden houses and ancient culture, set against the backdrop of the Jade Snow Dragon Mountain. In Lijiang you can learn about the Naxi people and their female-based culture.
Shangri-La has two of Asia's great rivers, high mountain ranges and over a dozen ethnic minorities within 100km. Discover Tibetan culture, lama and monasteries, white water terraces, former slave villages, pilgrimage mountains, French vineyards and yak butter tea.
